Exhaust Valve
This exhaust valve seats in the cylinder head to release combustion gases on each power stroke, exposed to higher temperatures and corrosive byproducts than the intake side. Engine rebuilders replace exhaust valves whenever the valve face shows burning, the stem is bent, or the head was overheated from a coolant loss event. Reusing damaged valves on a rebuilt head wastes the labor of the rebuild.
